Around 1980’s the Indian Government which was then being led by Indira Gandhi started PFY (polyester filament yarn) and luckily private sector’s also got a chance to participate. Dhirubhai Ambani also tried to get a license in order to set up the manufacturing plan for the same.
MR. Mukesh Ambani was called from Stanford where he was pursuing his MBA, after this when he came back and joined Reliance he never went back. He helped his company to get from textiles business to polyester fibers then eventually into petrochemicals.
Afterward, Mukesh Ambani went on and set up Reliance Infocomm Limited (now Reliance Communications Limited), which basically provided services for telecommunications and acts as a data provider. He also was the reason behind largest petrochemical refinery at Jamnagar, India which has a capacity of around 660,000 barrels per day (33 million tonnes per year) in 2010.
Around the year 2014 Ambani also faced an FIR which was filed by MR. Arvind Kejriwal (current CM of Delhi) for alleged irregularities in pricing of natural resources. CM has also asked both Rahul Gandhi and Narendra Modi to know what they feel about the same issue.
